We’re on a mission to retire Roberto Clemente’s #21 across Major League Baseball.

Currently, only one number has been retired league-wide: Jackie Robinson’s #42. That honor is well deserved. But we believe Roberto Clemente should also receive the game’s highest recognition. His on-field accomplishments were legendary, and his humanitarian impact went far beyond baseball.

This effort began as a Change.org petition. While starting a petition is easy, sustaining momentum is not. We quickly realized this needed to be more than a petition—it had to be a movement.

That belief led to the creation of RETIRE 21. By building a brand people could rally behind, we aimed to inspire fans to help spread the message through conversation, community, and social sharing.

So the question became: how do we turn belief into action?

With the MLB All-Star Game in Miami, the timing couldn’t have been better. We brought the project to South Beach to push the message and capture public attention.

We were lucky to partner with an incredible group of influencers, including current Pirates players, Carlos Correa, and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder.
